Sugarcane event CTC79005-2 was developed through Agrobacterium-mediated transformation of sugar cane variety RB92579 with plasmid pCTC302.
The vector carries two cassettes:
• the first cassette encodes the cry1Ac gene conferring resistance to D. saccharalis.
• the second cassette expresses the NptII protein used as a selection marker.
Quantitative real-time PCR, Southern blot, and DNA sequence analysis indicate single insertion of the T-DNA. No plasmid backbone sequences were detected and the T-DNA insertion remained genetically stable over four generations.
