Description:	Papaya 16-0-1 was developed by research groups in Taiwan, Republic of China. The transformation event is described in Bau, H.-J., Cheng, Y.-H., Yu, T.-A., Yang, J.-S., and Yeh, S.-D. (2003) Broad-spectrum resistance to different geographic strains of Papaya ringspot virus in coat protein gene transgenic papaya. Phytopathology 93:112-120. (Transformation was earlier described in H.-J., Cheng, Y.-H., T.-A., Yang, J.-S., and Yeh, S.-D. (1996) Efficient transformation of papaya by coat protein gene of Papaya ringspot virus mediated by Agrobacterium following liquid-phase wounding of embryogenic tissues with caborundum. Plant Cell Reports 16:127-132.) The CP gene of PRSV YK, with a beta-glucuronidase (GUS) leader, a CaMV 35S promoter and nos terminator, was constructed with a nptII selection marker. The construct was transferred to Agrobacterium tumefaciens LBA4404 by the triparental mating.
