Description:
|
GE-ALS1 soybean was developed using the CRISPR/Cas9 technology. Bombardement with a ribonucleoprotein and a DNA repair template carrying the desired mutation leads to substitution of one base pair in the als1 gene. als1 encodes for the acetolyctate synthase and its modification confers tolerance to herbicides of the ALS group.
No recombinant DNA was used and the generation of GE-ALS1 soybean does not involve the use of vectors.
Note that the developer did not describe the final plant line in the CTNBio document. For the final event, sanger sequencing will be used to confirm the desired substitution of the basepair in als1 and to identify sequences with off-target risk.
