Description:
|
The maize event DAS40278 has been created by silicone carbide whiskers-mediated transformation with the 6236 bp transformation fragment from plasmid pDAS1740 carring the aad1 expression cassette.
The aad-1 gene (CS-aad1-SPHHE) encodes the aryloxyalkanoate dioxygenase (AAD-1) enzyme, which confers tolerance to 2,4-D and to certain aryloxyphenoxypropionate (AOPP) herbicides such as quizalofop.
The molecular characterization of the genetic modification in DAS40278 demonstrates that a
single copy of each of the genetic elements of the aad-1 expression cassette is present.
The inserted DNA fragment is stably integrated and inherited across and within breeding generations, and no plasmid backbone sequences are present in event DAS40278.
